SIGMA CHI SIGMA (1988-present)
To the Great Men that Paved the Way:
Sigma Chi Sigma. The Brotherhood that lasts FOREVER! As prideful as our history shows, I come to you as a medium between the past and the present. We hear about all the great stories and accounts of nights gone right [or wrong] and the unique men that have cemented their mark on the campus we call OC.
Over the years, we regret that we have lost ties with many of you. We cannot expect to flourish as a “club” if we do not remain eminent on keeping a close-knit brotherhood.
I know in the past, all you handsome Sigma men have been out of the loop and uninvolved due to our prior inability to stay connected. We all know it is vital for a club to sustain itself by means of its past, present, and future members. From the stories and accounts of Sigma in its glory days, it brings us to the current situation.
Over the course of the years, Sigma has dropped from its position of prestige and greatness and taken a backseat in the OC community. As we all understand, anything less than greatness is unacceptable. We have tons of ideas to bring US back to the top, but we lack the necessary resources. We are now beginning the process of contacting our Alumni and trying to reach the roots of our development as a “club”. We have recently contacted a couple of Alumni and they are ready to help get our plans in motion with the assistance that is needed.
If you know any Alumni, PLEASE contact them and tell them of our situation, PLEASE pass this letter on and have them contact us. We would love to keep them (you all) in touch and involved with Sigma’s plans. If you know any Alumni that would be willing to sponsor us, we would be delighted and honored for their sponsorships. If you would like to donate your time or resources, we will be grateful and honored.
One thing we are planning is a "Sigma Spring Sing Service Project", on campus....we plan on letting the school sponsor us on the saturday before Spring Sing Week, we will start around 9am or 10am, clean the entire campus for a few hours, and then end with a cookout under our new pavilion next to the student center. I think the service project is a great idea, it will get out name out, and will make us acreditable on campus. We need to alert the you and other alumni to this opportunity so you can devote your time or resources to this project. In other words, a lot of us have jobs that are out of the city and this makes it difficult to devote a day (or even a few hours) to this kind of project. I need help passing the word up the chain to get the older guys there and/or donating to help us with this.. I am also thinking it might be a good idea for us to enlist some help from the girls' clubs to help us out. Back in the day, Sigma had strong "relationships" with Gamma and Theta, and i know i can get one or the other or even both to help out.We need to have "Sigma" clean up the campus and not just that but Sigma's image - my one goal is to make sure the purpose of this service project isn't lost by involving other clubs. the focus will be kept on Sigma.
Secondly, Sigma is planning on having a 21st Anniversary dinner/Reunion on April 4th and we want to invite all the Alumni and their families. We expect it to be the unsurpassed event of the year; even in the history of Sigma. If you have any opinions or ideas for the dinner, please don’t hesitate to contact us. AGAIN Sigma Alumni Dinner....on OC's campus....April 4th at 6:00....sigma style, pay when you get there....sorry.....dress business/church attire...bring your wife, girlfriend or pick someone up off the street.....cost 25$ per-person it includes meal and a t-shirt, and other donations are welcome...we are currently setting an account up with the school so that if you chose to donate to "us" it will be a nice tax write off.....i need RSVP's ASAP.....to my email address at adam.wasserstrom@oc.edu! thank you guys.....pleeeeasse SPREAD THE WORD! i got a room reserved for 120 people.....if you would like to help plan the night or want to contribute to it please let me know as well....and if you guys can get old sigma pictures send them to me!!! if you have banners, or tshirts, or hats, or signs, or CANES....bring them to this dinner as well! thanks again guys.
Lastly, we are so proud of our club and know you all were, too. It has been a great experience and we would like to keep this experience alive, not only with current members, but with all the men that made this “club” what it is today. We thank you great gentlemen from Sigma’s past for your time and consideration.
